IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Temporary Closure as Gallery returns to A Class
The Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery will return to its A Class status following significant works this year.
The Gallery is now closed until early December 2019 while a new air-conditioning system is installed. This will return the Gallery to being one of only two South Australian art galleries outside of Adelaide to being ‘A Class’, meaning it is able to host world class exhibitions from such venues as the National Art Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, the Australian Centre for Moving Image, Artspace and many more.
During the works, the Port Pirie Visitor Information Centre’s Shark Cage VR experience will also be closed. However, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy both artwork and attractions at the Centre.
Shakka the Shark exhibition will remain open and the Centre now has new artisan products available for sale including scarves, jewellery and indigenous artwork which showcase the talents of our local artists.
Gallery and Cultural Arts Coordinator Ursula Halpin encouraged the community to register for the Art Gallery’s mailing list to receive updates on the 2020 program launch and exciting programs next year around education, health and well being and more.
If you would like to showcase your artwork for artist of the month, or join the mailing list, simply visit the Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery Facebook page or contact 8633 8724.
