2 months ago by ppragallery Eid Mubarak Happy Eid-ul-Adha 2019 to everyone around the world especially to everyone in South Australia and to our Muslim community here in Port Pirie! May this Eid bring happiness and peace to the world! Eid al-Adha falls at the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and is celebrated by Muslims around the world. Eid al-Adha began yesterday evening (Sunday 11 August), and ends in the evening of Wednesday 14 August. This year saw many Muslims and from Australia and New Zealand including those affected by the terrible attacks in NZ attend the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Eid marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer. Many Muslims attend communal prayers, listen to a khutba (sermon) and give zakat al-fitr (charity in the form of food) during Eid al-Fitr. Many Muslims dress in fine clothing and children receive gifts on Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Adha 2019 wishes and greetings: How to wish someone a happy Eid- ‘May the divine blessings of Allah bring you hope, faith, and joy on Eid al-Adha and forever. Happy Eid al-Adha 2019!" 2 months ago by ppragallery Artist of month in our Gallery and VIC store is Neil Hann from Port Germein. Image 1 'New Growth in Telowie Gorge' 2019. Acrylic on canvas. The Telowie Gorge was devastated by fire and floods in 2014. New growth is well underway. Image 2 'St. Mary's Peak' 2019. Acrylic on canvas. This is the highest point on Wilpena Pound. According to the Adnyamathana dreaming the highest peak represents the head of one of the two serpents that formed Wilpena Pound when fighting. Following a career in teaching Neil Hann is now a full time painter living and working in Port Germein from his '2 Front Rooms Gallery' and studio in his home. As a landscape artist, Hann's interest lies in the inter-relationship between seemingly ageless geological formations, the coming and going of flora, the ravages of nature and the patterns created through through their co-existence. He uses aspects of the modernist style amalgamating layer upon layer of broken colour. Hann states that his layering gives a visible chronology of construction (...) an important contemplative element to his work. Make sure you pop into us to see these paintings in person. The vivid layering of the colour has to be experienced.
